About
Hi, I’m Alex Hecksher. I enjoy working on creatives projects involving animation, film, photography, sound / audio, baking, coding, or any combination of those.
I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2021 with a degree in computer science and a minor in film and media studies. Since then I have worked as a script reader, a production assistant, a technical assistant, and a variety of other roles on film projects and at production studios. You can check the resume page on my website for more information.
I also work on personal projects, which I try to post here on my website as much as possible. Mostly, I love to work on 2D animation projects. Though, I do experiment with other styles of animation from time to time
From time to time, I use my servicable programing skills to aid in my creative projects. I enjoy using P5js or Processing for creating visual art since their libraries make it very easy to quickly build out super interesting visuals. For some great tutorials on the P5js and Processing I would recommend the Train with Daniel Shiffman.
On top of that, I enjoy working on my photography. I have two cameras, one digital camera (Canon Rebel T6) and one film camera (Minolta X700). I don't have a strong preference between film or digital, but I do love 💥flash💥 and street photography. I also enjoy experimenting with homemade lenses.
Lastly, I work on some audio-based project. Similar to the visual art, I using software tools like Max MSP, PureData, and Supercollider to allow me to use my technical abilities for creative ends. For great tutorials on Supercollider I would highly recommend Fieldsteel’s youtube channel. He is an associate professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne and created this amazing musical instrument using light sensors.
You can check out a list of my projects on my home page. As I mentioned, I will try to keep this site updated with my finished and on-going projects. And if you want to reach out to me my information is available on my contact page.
